We started by scanning our database for members who show off the Flybuys attitude in all sorts of ways – not just the points-rich. After crunching the numbers, running opt-in surveys and doing rounds of interviews to learn more about them, we found 50 members who are stacking points like there’s no tomorrow. Our 50 members sent us in their snazzy selfies so we could put a face to the names, and 10 lucky members got to be a part of a fancy photoshoot. Think you’re Flybuys 50 material, too? Keep playing the points game and you could be in the running for 2023!
ANGELA
from Hindmarsh Valley, SA
“I’ve got the whole family trained”

Angela’s been a Flybuys member since day dot (she joined the same year the program launched, way back in 1994). This hard-working, long-time member knows how to cash in for big rewards – from flights and family holidays to Weber BBQs and a coffee machine. It’s fair to say she’s a master points collector.
Her hottest tip? Rope your family into helping you boost your points game. And when they shop, make sure you remind them: Scan. That. Card.
Q: What's your secret to success?
A: I make sure my husband fills our car up at Shell Coles Express at the beginning of the month to get extra bonus points. We also make sure we activate all the offers.
Q: How does Flybuys fit into your life? Any benefits you’re busting to share?
A: I like checking the offers when I’m at Coles because you can buy things that you wouldn’t normally try that are still worth having. Why wouldn’t you get Flybuys? It’s pretty easy to collect points with everyday necessities.
Q: What partners do you love to shop with the most?
A: I’m at Bunnings all the time – it’s one of my favourite shops. I’m always getting plants and solar lights for my garden. My daughter’s a Kmart fanatic, so we go there a lot to get fashion and shoes. And treats and toys for our dog too.
Q: What does your family think about your points obsession?
A: My kids think it’s hilarious. But I’ve got them all trained up and they have their own cards. Everyone in my family knows that if they go shopping, they have to scan their Flybuys card.
Q: What’s next in your points adventure?
A: Just before December, I’ll cash in a few hundred dollars with Flybuys vouchers to do the Christmas shopping, for things like food and gifts.
Q: How do you redeem all those not-so-hard-earned points?
A: We just got a coffee machine with our points! It’s awesome – I haven’t gone back to instant coffee since. For Christmas we used our points to get Weber BBQs. My son races motorcycles so we pay with points to fly him and his pit crew to meetings around Australia. My husband and I work as transporters and he’s a mechanic, so the points help us fly in and out for work. When the kids were younger, we cashed in for holidays to Queensland to do all the theme parks. It was a great time.
Fill up on points, like Angela.
Got a hankering for the wide open road? Fuel up with Shell Coles Express and you’re on your way to more points and paying less at the pump.
