Q: What’s your secret to success?
A: Activate. Activate. Activate. Activate everything – you never know what you’re going to get. And do your big shop when there’s an incentive of big bonus points.
Q: How does Flybuys fit into your life? Any benefits you’re busting to share?
A: Well, my kids are hungry every two and a half minutes. And I’m hungry too! Coles is the number one shop for my family. I often go there to get a big discount and make my money go further. It helps to collect points for shopping and being able to redeem for something nice.
Q: How does it feel to be part of the Flybuys 50?
A: When Flybuys 50 started last year and they all talked about being the master of their points collection, I had in the back of my mind that maybe I’d be a part of it one day. I never thought I’d get the chance to be a part of something like this in my lifetime. It’s an amazing experience.
Q: How do you like to redeem your not-so-hard-earned points?
A: My first big lot of points paid for half of my flights to Bali when I went with three of my kids. I love to collect Flybuys dollars at Coles and Kmart for clothing or toys. And heaps of birthday presents, too.
Q: What’s the most points you’ve ever used in one go?
A: In lockdown, our kids were doing home learning and we only had one computer. I kept trying to work out how I could budget for a new computer. Then I thought, “Hang on. I’ve got 600,000 Flybuys points right now.” And so I put those points towards two brand-new iPads for the kids and a new phone for myself.
Q: What would you say is the goal of collecting points?
A: If you’re going to spend your money anyway, you might as well get some points in return. I think that if you can collect a little bit, it can easily become a big month of points.
