When you link your Velocity Frequent Flyer and Flybuys accounts, you can turn your Flybuys points into Velocity Points to redeem for Virgin Australia Domestic and International flights, perks at the airport and add-ons to your accommodation.
Our guide to Auto Transfer will help when you want to move all your Flybuys points over to Velocity as soon as you collect enough. But if you want to choose when your points transfer over – and how many to allocate to Velocity – here’s what you need to know about manual transfers.
What are my points worth?
Great question. Every 1,000 Flybuys points you collect can be transferred for 500 Velocity Points, and you can transfer them in multiples of 1,000.
Make it automatic.[breakout box]
Take the thinking out of your points-wrangling with Auto Transfer. Each time you hit 1,000 Flybuys points, they’ll automatically move into your Velocity account. Read our guide to Auto Transfer to find out more.
Prepare to transfer.
We’re going to guess you’re already a Velocity member, but if you’re reading this and haven’t signed up yet, you can do that here.
Next, log in to the Flybuys website and head to the Velocity partner page. That’s where you’ll find the prompt to link your Flybuys and Velocity accounts. You’ll need to log in to Velocity too, but once you’ve done that it’s smooth sailing. Or flying.
It’s time to transfer.
You’re linked and ready to transfer. Here’s how to do it.
- First things first: make sure you’re logged in to your Flybuys account.
- Visit the Velocity Transfer page on the Flybuys website and you’ll see your Flybuys points tally and a field showing how many Velocity Points they’ll get you.
- Hit the plus or minus buttons until you find your transfer sweet spot. Remember – you can only transfer points in multiples of 1,000. Any stragglers will stay behind in your Flybuys balance.
- Then, just press the redeem button to send your Flybuys points on a flight to their new home: your Velocity account.
FYI
You won’t see the points tally if your Flybuys points balance is under 1,000. Keep collecting points, and then come back to give it a go.
