The Flybuys 50 gives us an opportunity to celebrate some of our most engaged members, and gives them a platform to share their secrets to success so others can experience more value. We started our nationwide search by looking for members who show off the Flybuys attitude in all sorts of ways — not just the points-rich. After crunching the numbers, running opt-in surveys and doing rounds of interviews to learn more about them, we found 50 members sent us in their snazzy selfies so we could put faces to the names, and 10 lucky members got to be part of a fancy photoshoot. Think you're Flybuys 50 material, too? Keep playing the points game and you could be in the running for 2024!
CAMERON
Perth, WA

“I’m always looking for new ways to maximise points. Life is all about learning something new every day.”
Cameron’s Flybuys game plan packs a punch. From memorable family holidays to tying the knot in New Zealand, his points stash has taken him all over the place. What’s next for his passport and Flybuys fortune? A family holiday to the Big Apple.
When he’s not travelling, you’ll find Cameron at home making the most of his favourite source for points: surveys. The best part is that he gets to be rewarded for learning something new. What a win-win!
What did you wish you knew when you first started your Flybuys journey?
I wish I knew how easy it is. And I wish more people were motivated about it because it works. The program is free to join and you can get points for doing your everyday shopping. I love Flybuys – I’m really obsessed with it!
You took your son on a special trip to Kalgoorlie thanks to Velocity Frequent Flyer Points. How did it feel to know everything was covered?
It felt amazing. Flights out of Western Australia are quite pricey and converting my Flybuys points to Velocity Frequent Flyer Points meant I could surprise my son on his 11th birthday with a trip to Kalgoorlie. He loves machinery, so we took him to see a big mining dump truck and caught the high-speed train back to Perth. You really can’t put a price on an experience like that for a little boy.
What’s your favourite part about completing surveys?
I think that knowledge is power. Every time I do a survey, I learn something new and I get rewarded for it. It’s incredible. I will do surveys anywhere, any time. If I’ve got a spare moment, I’ll do a survey.
What are your top tips for new members who want to make the most of surveys?
I like to set a little Flybuys benchmark every day to make sure that there’s always some activity on my account. So, if I haven’t shopped with a Flybuys partner on that day, then I’ll definitely do a survey. This way, I’m always adding to my points bank account.
What are the most points you’ve spent in one go? What was it on?
My wife is a New Zealander and we got married about six years ago in Christchurch. We actually used Velocity Frequent Flyer Points for both our return flights from Perth to New Zealand. Then we got to have our honeymoon in Queenstown. In total, we redeemed about 150,000 points. And we still had some left over!
Would you say you’ve mastered the program? Or do you have more to learn?
Being in the Flybuys 50, I feel like I’m close to mastering it. But I’m always looking for new ways to maximise points. Life is all about learning something new every day.
You’ve got questions. They’ve got answers.
Get rewarded for your opinion, like Cameron.
