We started our nationwide search by looking for members who show off the Flybuys attitude in all sorts of ways — not just the points-rich. After crunching the numbers, running opt-in surveys and doing rounds of interviews to learn more about them, we found 50 members sent us in their snazzy selfies so we could put faces to the names, and 10 lucky members got to be part of a fancy photoshoot. Darianne is a Leo with a love for matching outfits and little luxuries. Naturally, she’s a Flybuys superstar. When she’s not spoiling her great nieces also and nephews, she’s relaxing in her at-home spa (which also happens to be her favourite spot to complete surveys).

You’re a regular jetsetter. How many travels have you taken thanks to Velocity Frequent Flyer Points?
So many! I’ve used Velocity Points to take my sister to Swan Valley, where we stayed at Upper Reach Winery for two nights – on me. My husband and I have travelled to Melbourne, Magnetic Island, Townsville and Brisbane.
We love that you have an at-home spa! How do you use your Flybuys points to make your home feel luxurious?
I used to love travelling world, but as I’ve got older, I’ve become a homebody. I love renovating and decorating my home, which is where shopping at Kmart and Target comes in. If I feel like it, I’ll also splash out on some of the lovely skincare they have at Coles.
What are your top tips for building a Flybuys fortune?
Shop ’til you drop! Use your Flybuys card. Use the app. If you can get a Coles Rewards Mastercard, make sure you link it to your Flybuys account. Have a look around where you live to see what partners you can shop with. And make sure you do the surveys. I’ll settle into my spa, have a little treat, do a survey and collect some points. Simple!
You’ve been a Flybuys member for over 10 years. How has your approach to collecting points changed over the years?
The way I get points has changed a lot since I first joined Flybuys. The main way is getting a Coles Rewards Mastercard. And over the years I’ve started to do more surveys and shop at new partners when I can. I like to give every store a bit of love.
We hear you love the free Coles product offers. Do you have any favourite items that you’ve collected?
I love the little yoghurts that you can get. There are lots of free product offers that are great for kids, so I’ll pick them up and share them with my great nieces and nephews.
Are there any Flybuys hacks that you wish you’d plugged into earlier?
So many! But joining Coles Insurance for our home and car cover would be number one. They were so helpful when a pipe burst in my house a few years ago. It’s nice to know you can get points on those necessary items.
