The Flybuys 50 gives us an opportunity to celebrate some of our most engaged members, and gives them a platform to share their secrets to success so others can experience more value. We started our nationwide search by looking for members who show off the Flybuys attitude in all sorts of ways — not just the points-rich. After crunching the numbers, running opt-in surveys and doing rounds of interviews to learn more about them, we found 50 members sent us in their snazzy selfies so we could put faces to the names, and 10 lucky members got to be part of a fancy photoshoot. Think you're Flybuys 50 material, too? Keep playing the points game and you could be in the running for 2024!
SARAH
Perth, WA

“It’s all about the two A’s: Always. Activate.”
When Sarah and her husband first started dating, they bonded over a shared love for Marvel movies. Soon, they were heading out on points-paid movie nights and picking up suitcases from the Rewards Store for their travels. Now they’re settling down and picking up Dyson Air Purifiers. It’s the same Flybuys dopamine rush, all grown up.
This year, Sarah’s points goals are higher than ever before. She’s got her eyes on a Dyson hair dryer and a trip to Europe. And she’ll use her grocery and fuel shopping to get there.
You’ve been a member for over 15 years. What’s the secret to longevity in the Flybuys game?
Get the app, activate all the offers and get involved with the weekly spend offers. I plan my shop around how I can get the most points and the best deals possible. Plus, my husband and I use our car quite a bit. So we’ll fuel up at Shell Coles Express and, rather than choosing dollars off, I’ll use that opportunity to get more points. It really helps me to boost my points when I’m saving for something in the Rewards Store.
What habits have earned you a surprising stash of points over the years?
Fuelling up at Shell Coles Express is a huge one. I’ve had my car for over seven years and since day one, I’ve used it as a way to get more points. It’s a win-win!
What advice would you give to a new member who wants to follow in your footsteps?
I’d tell them to get the digital version of their Flybuys card ASAP. That way, if they forget their physical card, then at least they can scan it on their phone. You’ve got to make sure you’ve always got your card on you.
What’s the best points-paid movie you’ve seen recently?
It was a Marvel movie for sure. My husband and I are both huge Marvel fans and we’ve watched every single one of them. When we first started dating, we’d use our points to go on movie dates.
Why is fuel a no-brainer for collecting points?
Well, most people drive, right? So why not get rewarded for it? It’s that simple!
You recently picked up a handy Dyson air purifier from the Rewards Store. What’s next for your points fortune?
I’ve got my eye on a Dyson hairdryer at the moment. I had the opportunity to test it out and I’m hooked. I’d also love to do some travelling next. I’m planning to explore Europe at the end of the year and it would be amazing if I could put some points towards the trip. I feel really inspired by the other Flybuys 50 members.
You’ve got questions. They’ve got answers.
Fill up on points, like Sarah.
Does your heart belong behind the wheel? Fuel up with Shell Coles Express and you’re on your way to more points and paying less at the pump.
